Description:
Right 2 Survive TV documents the lived realities of un-housed individuals, shares their experiences, and breaks down myths and stigmas associated with being houseless. We hit the streets of our city and talk with real people to document their stories, such as those of people who are being denied access to adequate shelter, sanitary restrooms in which to perform basic human functions, the ability to gather into groups for safety while they sleep, and many other things that should be basic human rights. Back in studio, host Ibrahim Mubarak welcomes special guests and audience members to have an open discussion about what is happening in Portland. Our goal is to empower the un-sheltered, the disenfranchised, those of color, oppressed minorities, and those who are being treated like criminals because of their poverty. Right 2 Survive is a grassroots organization that has led the charge in educating both houseless and housed people on their civil, human and constitutional rights. We work to bridge the gap between housed and un-housed people by clearing up misconceptions and stigmas associated with houselessness and empower houseless people to stand up for themselves when their rights are violated.
