Genres:
In 1993, Flying Focus produced a show on population called "Five Billion and Counting." At the time world population was estimated at 5.5 billion people. At the time of this follow up show, 29 years later in early 2022, global population is estimated at 7.9 billion people. That is 160% of the number from 1993. For this show, we spoke to people holding two perspectives: the organization Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) and the movement called "Stop Having Kids." The show combines an online interview with Stephanie Feldstein, Population and Sustainability Director from CBD, with in-person footage of Stop Having Kids during an outreach event at the Portland State University Farmer's Market. While they both think that the population issue is crucial to address, they have different philosophies. What do you think? Watch this show and let us know! -------- This show was produced by Dan Handelman (who also conducted the CBD interview), with field footage and interrviews by PC Peri. It also includes a Public Service Announcement called "Crowded Planet" used with permission of CBD.
