Each month, Strata presents news from the world of archeology. This month features two short videos. First: “Aski, the Mother of All”: A short, poetic experimental work that serves as a visual tribute to Mother Earth. This Indigenous narrative takes a patient, contemplative approach to look closely at the vibrant colors, softness, and intricate, overlooked details hidden within the forest. Second: “ArchaeologyX: Hunt for the First Americans at the Barton Site”: A team of archaeologists excavates deeply buried cultural deposits along the Potomac River in western Maryland. Their goal: to uncover evidence of human occupation dating to the end of the last ice age—a period long associated with the continent’s first inhabitants.
