Youth Film Crash Course (For Ages 12–14)

Dive into filmmaking with this crash course on the JVC 600 camera! Work as a team to create a video from scratch, starting with a storyboard and moving on to direct actors and edit a finished piece.

In this three-session workshop, you'll collaborate with other students to create a video from scratch, starting wiht a storyboard and moving on to direct actors and edit a finished piece.

You'll learn how to:

  • Contribute to a story and character development
  • Complete a production schedule, crew schedule and storyboards
  • Record audio and video in a production team setting
  • Edit your own version of the final video

Your finished work will be shown on Open Signal's cable channels!

Newcomer: Perfect for students who want an introduction to media, these classes are intended for those who have never worked with the equipment and/or software before. Fundamentals will be taught from the very beginning with plenty of time to address questions.

Certification: This workshop will certify you to borrow our JVC 600 cameras, tripods, Flo LED field lights, microphones and MacBook Pro laptops with FInal Cut Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite. It also lets you submit videos to our TV channels!
