Screenwriting: Scripted Web Series

Registration is closed for this event
Have an idea for an original scripted web series? In this project-based class with director Alicia J. Rose, you’ll write your own script for a pilot episode!

Successful web-to-television shows like Insecure and Broad City have shown that great ideas and a good script can propel you to the big time. In this four-session class, you'll take your own ideas and turn them into a short script. You'll work on technique, structure and style—bouncing ideas off one another as you spend the month building your story.

You will be guided by award-winning local writer and director Alicia J. Rose, creator of the hit web series The Benefits of Gusbandry. We recommend coming to the class with some established story ideas to work with; there will be some suggest writing assignments to work on your story development between classes. Writing groups are encouraged to sign up!

Note: This class skips one week between sessions.

Introductory: Aimed at novice media makers, Introductory classes move at a pace for learners who are new to the field of media and want to start building on their skill set.

Recommended Prior Experience: We recommend coming in with some solid ideas to help you begin the writing process. Familiarity with terms like logline, shot types and basic screenwriting structure is recommended prior to taking this course.

Certification: This workshop will certify you to reserve a MacBook Pro laptop that comes with Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud. You will also be able to borrow our hard drives and submit videos to our TV channels!
