Intro to Audio Production for Video: GarageBand

Apple's GarageBand is a fully equipped digital audio workstation that's perfect for beginners. In this introductory workshop, you'll use it to learn the fundamentals of audio production for soundtracks and audio effects. The class explores several concepts, including synthesis, sampling, midi, voice overs, effects and other production techniques. Elevate your videos and add them to Open Signal's sound effects library (also known in filmmaking as 'Foley!').

This class is part of our Post Production track. Learn more about our media education tracks here.

Introductory: Aimed at novice media makers with some prior knowledge of media production, Introductory classes move at a pace for learners who are new to the field of media but already have a basic understanding of the concepts in the class description.

Recommended Prior Experience: If you have never used a Mac before, we recommend taking Mac Basics before this class. If you have never used any editing software before, we also recommend taking one of our editing classes prior to taking this course. A basic understanding of audio recording, editing concepts and editing tools, is also recommended.

Certification: This workshop will certify you to reserve a MacBook Pro laptop that comes with GarageBand, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Creative Cloud. You will also be able to borrow our hard drives and submit videos to our channels!
