Studio Volunteer Training: Studio Lighting and Cameras

Learn television production skills while keeping independent, community media alive through our series of free Studio Volunteer workshops. Each workshop focuses on one aspect of our industry-standard HD soundstages. Taking any of the workshops puts you on our studio crew volunteer list, making sure you keep and build on those skills by volunteering on an existing Open Signal cable series. Learn on set with our community of producers, get valuable behind-the-scenes experience and see your work on our cable channels!

This week: Studio Lighting and Cameras!

The saying, “Lights! Camera! Action!” begins with lights and camera for a reason — take this introductory workshop and find out why. Learn about Open Signal’s HD television studios' lighting and cameras. Our instructors will show you how to use floor lights, the light board (including cyclorama lights), spots and Gobos, as well as how to properly light your talent and a greenscreen. This workshop will also show you the basics of television cameras in both of our studios, including robotic camera operation and tips on safe operation of camera pedestals. After completion of this free workshop you will be added to a list of volunteers willing to be contacted for lighting and camera assistance for our regularly produced television series.

This workshop will not result in certification for studios.
