Open Signal Microcinema - Screening Guardian of the Land/Our Fire

Open Signal Microcinema is a monthly screening series highlighting creative voices in our communities.

This months Microcinema is a screening of Guardian of the Land by LaRonn Katchia (Warm Springs/Wasco/Paiute) along with scenes from an upcoming feature documentary Our Fire by Galen McCaw.

These projects both focus on Indigenous relationships to land, community, and non-human entities.

Guardian of the Land is a short film where cultural and community leaders of Nch'i-Wána (or Columbia River) tribes share perspectives and oral histories on America's most famous cryptid-Bigfoot, as a spiritual being that teaches one to enter into a relationship with the land.

Our Fire is an upcoming feature documentary which follows Klamath Tribal member Anna Merritt in her work to bring cultural fire back to life. Working alongside the Klamath Tribes Natural Resource Department the project explores land management, cultural revitalization, and first foods.
